Ten commitments for combining constellations and the clinical framework
Ten commitments for combining constellations and the clinical framework
The client’s safety comes first. No tool justifies carrying on in the face of dissociation, a suicidal crisis or danger. In case of suicidal thoughts: 3114.
Ten commitments
- The rules of my profession take precedence: code of ethics, professional secrecy, protected titles. Constellations add no status.
- State the status: the effectiveness of constellations has not been demonstrated; a claim from the tradition is not a fact.
- Inform before offering, obtain written consent, respect the right to refuse and to stop.
- Assess contraindications: suicidal crisis, psychosis, active dissociation, unstabilised trauma, ongoing violence. Refer on if needed.
- Do not replace a treatment or a follow-up; coordinate with other caregivers.
- Do not establish a causal link between an ancestor or a dynamic and an illness.
- Stay within my competences and refer to a specialised colleague when the theme exceeds them.
- Document carefully: generic wording, no causal hypothesis about health, GDPR.
- Protect: refer on and report in case of ill-treatment of a minor or vulnerable person (119; Article 434-3 of the French Penal Code).
- Be supervised: supervision, peer supervision, personal work.
Emergencies (France)
- Psychological distress, suicidal thoughts: 3114 (24 hours a day).
- Immediate danger: 15, 17 or 112.
- Child in danger: 119.
- Domestic violence: 3919.
Outside France, check the emergency numbers of your country.
